School Bus & School Zone Enforcement
The Huntington Highway Safety Program has pushed school bus and zone safety over the past few years to reduce the amount of vehicles that speed through school zones and also illegally pass school buses.

A study from The National Association of State Directors of Pupil Transportation Services reported that over 78,000 drivers illegally passed school buses nationwide on anyone one day. Throughout an 180 day school year that would total to be over 14 million violations from private motorists. This means that over 14 million times a child's life was in danger.

The goal of this program is to ensure motorists are aware of school zone and school bus laws. The campaign is conducted twice a year in our region. The first period is when the new school year begins and one shortly after the school year begins, around October, as part of National School Bus Safety week.
